I'm writing to you from the comfort of my home aka my office. There is the occasional coffee shop work day but most days I'm navigating running a business out of the four walls of my tiny little apartment. I've often questioned what this season is intended for, because I firmly believe the season we're in now is equipping us for the season we're about to be in. Patience and contentment and discipline in the day in, day out of everyday life has definitely been a resounding theme. Working from home requires a lot of discipline and there have been many times I feel completely stuck in what to do next. Prioritizing tasks, getting up earlier and working out/eating better have been some of the main tactics that have helped me succeed in conquering the menial tasks of the day all while running a business.
One of the biggest helps has been setting my alarm, forcing myself out of bed and then moving my body a bit. I've been loving Tone It Up's exercise routines - they're quick but effective. Even if you're only moving your body for 15 minutes each morning, it's something! And that something leads you to putting your mind to other beneficial things such as, making that new smoothie recipe or heading to the market to grab some fruits and flowers to get your day and week off on the right foot.
For far too long I neglected my body and its needs. I was really hating how I was feeling and was desperate for a way out of feeling stuck in a rut. I love my sweets and the not so healthy food. I just do. It's one of my Achille's Heels. When I stare at a menu my first reaction is not to order the healthy salad, but the greasy slice(s) of pizza. However, I'm here to tell you I'm on week 3 of choosing a healthier me and stewarding this body that God has given me. I want to be conscious of what I put in my body and treat it with the love and care it deserves. I'm easing myself into this and realizing you don't have to have a radical lifestyle change, but simply can take some baby steps that lead to a healthier you.
Some of those steps have been:
Setting your alarm and not hitting snooze.
Getting your sweat on for at least 15-20 mins. early on in your day.
Find yourself an accountability partner.
For me, it's helped having an accountability friend to do it alongside me. We've been super honest in our shortcoming's, we're nowhere near achieving a perfect diet and we're not looking to do so. It's also not about obsessing about what I look like but more about how I'm able to function to the best of my ability and food + personal wellness plays a really big role in that.
This last weekend we ran to the Farmer's Market, got some key ingredients to whip up some apple cider vinegar shooters. Click the link above to read more about ACV.
We made a really sweet strawberry lemonade shooter, really sour pomelo grapefruit shooter and a strawberry/cherry shooter. You can play around with what fruits to include but add 1-2 tablespoons of ACV, drain it, pour it, shoot it and do your best to keep a non-puckered face.
I hope this encourages you to go after that dream and to take that first step that is going to help you in accomplishing the goals you've set for yourself!
