It's been a super busy season for me over here as I tackle my first year of full time wedding photography. I so look forward to the days I get to step away from my laptop and editing and connect with my couples, getting outside and taking a big gulp of fresh air.
My personal story with Liberty and Derek started when a friend of mine referred this couple to me a few months back. We quickly bonded over where we lived, and that being in the exact, same apartment complex. Small world! And a promise on my end to not creepily encroach upon their lives more than need be.
Liberty and Derek knew they wanted to tell their love story in a place which holds a special place in both their hearts and their family's heart, Big Bear Mountain. It actually ties into their proposal story, where Derek got on knee to ask Liberty's hand last year at Derek's family's cabin around the Christmas tree. That just warms my heart right up!
These two were ready for a climb, hiking the 1.5 mile Castle Rock trail to get to the top so we could have a view of the lake. A mile and half doesn't seem all that long, but it was a steep climb and these two hiked it completely photo shoot ready, dress, tie and suit. These two didn't need any coaching, but I always find myself encouraging my clients by telling them, "Do it for the story!" if their expressions are telling me they're slightly over it.
The story is always worth the climb, the bouldering rocks because what's on the other side is cool photos plus a story to relive while looking back on them.
Happy to be your photographer, Lib and Derek! Is it May yet?!
